Ifyou have chosen the option not to display the Initial Configuration Taskswindow, the Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 console opensautomatically when you log on to Windows Unified Data Storage Server2003 as an administrator. If the console does not automatically open, oryou close it, a user with administrator privileges can open it manually.To open the Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003 console, clickStart→ All Programs→ Administrative Tools→ Windows Unified DataStorage Server 2003. In the Windows Unified Data Storage Server 2003console, the PowerVault NX1950 Management console node present inthe left of the navigation tree becomes the default focus.PowerVault NX1950 Management ConsoleYou can use PowerVault NX1950 Management console to perform thefollowing tasks:• Provisioning and managing volumes• Creating and managing SMB/CIFS shared folders and NFS exports• Defragmenting volumes• Setting quota limits• Creating storage utilization reports• Replicating data to and from the file server• Managing storage area networks (SANs)PowerVault NX1950 Management console eliminates the need for anadministrator to use the share folder management, storage manager forSANs, and disk management snap-ins in most cases by providing a singleconsole that combines file sharing management and disk management.
