Replace the battery only with the sameor equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to themanufacturer's instructions.NOTICE: The procedure for removing and replacing the coin-cell battery is identical (except where noted)for the Vostro 420, Vostro 220, and Vostro 220s computers.Removing the Coin-Cell Battery1. Record all the screens in the system setup program so that you can restore the correct settings in step 4 of Replacingthe Coin-Cell Battery. See System Setup Program for assistance with the system setup program.2. Follow the procedures in Before Working on Your Computer.3. Remove the computer cover (see Removing the Computer Cover).4. For the Vostro 220s, remove the chassis support bracket (see Removing the Chassis Support Bracket).NOTICE: If you pry the battery out of its socket with a blunt object, be careful not to touch the systemboard with the object. Ensure that the object is inserted between the battery and the socket before youattempt to pry out the battery. Otherwise, you may damage the system board by prying off the socket orby breaking circuit traces on the system board.1 release latch 2 battery (positive side)5. Carefully press the release latch away from the battery to allow the battery to pop up from the socket.6. Remove the battery from the system and properly dispose of the battery.Replacing the Coin-Cell Battery1. Insert the new battery into the socket with the side labeled "+" facing up, and then snap the battery into place. Ensurethat it is securely retained within the battery socket.
