ReferenceCARING FOR YOUR DELPHI CD AUDIOSYSTEMClean the Delphi CD Audio System cabinet and con-trols with a soft cloth slightly moistened with wateronly. Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouringpowder, or solvent, such as isopropyl alcohol orbenzene.WARNING: Unplug the A/C power adaptorduring cleaning to avoid any electrical shockhazard.PrecautionsCAUTION: Servicing of the Delphi CD AudioSystem should be done by qualified personnelonly. In particular, do not disassemble the CDplayer housing. The laser beam is harmful to theeyes. Follow these additional safety precautions:• Do not attempt to remove solid objects orliquids that fall into the Delphi CD AudioSystem. Discontinue operation, unplug the unit,and consult qualified service personnel.• Do not use non-standard compact discs (e.g.,mini discs or square-, heart-, or star-shapeddiscs) in the Delphi CD Audio System.Attempting to use non-standard discs maydamage the unit.Power Sources• For A/C operation, it is recommended that onlythe supplied A/C power adaptor be used. Ifanother adaptor is needed, make sure it is a12V, 1800mA D/C adaptor with a unified polarity-type jack.• As long as the Delphi CD Audio System isconnected to the wall outlet, it will continueto draw power, even if it is turned off.• Unplug the A/C power adaptor from the walloutlet when the Delphi CD Audio System is notto be used for an extended period of time.• The Delphi CD Audio System takes six D-size(R20) batteries.• When the batteries are not being used, removethem. This will help avoid possible damage toyour Delphi CD Audio System from batteryleakage or corrosion. Batteries will dischargeslowly, even when the Delphi CD Audio Systemis not being used. (New alkaline batteries willdischarge in approximately 30 days when leftunused in the Delphi CD Audio System.)Placement• Place the Delphi CD Audio System on a flat andstable surface to reduce the risk of the unitfalling and breaking.• Protect the Delphi CD Audio System from thedirect rays of the sun, which can damage theunit.• Keep spring-wound watches or personal creditcards using magnetic coding away from theDelphi CD Audio System. The strong magnetsused for the speakers can erase magnetic codingand can impair watch function.CAUTION: The two-inch-long bass responseports on either side of the top tube on your DelphiCD Audio System are designed to maximize airflowto the speakers for improved bass response.Inserting objects into these openings may impairspeaker function and can damage the unit.Protecting From Water Damage• Before opening or closing the Delphi CD AudioSystem CD player or battery compartment cover,be sure to wipe off any water, dust, or sand onthe outside of the unit.• The supplied A/C power adaptor is not water-resistant. To avoid electrical shock hazard, donot use the Delphi CD Audio System near waterduring A/C operation.• Do not wash under running water. Water in theheadphone jack or other jacks and openingsmay cause rusting and possible malfunction.• Do not use soap or detergent.• If the Delphi CD Audio System is splashed withsalt water or other liquid, wipe clean with adamp cloth, then dry with a soft, dry cloth.• Do not dry with an electric hair dryer, as theunit’s plastic parts are not rated to withstand thehigh temperatures generated by hair dryers.• When transferring the Delphi CD Audio Systemfrom a cold location to a warm location, or whenplacing it in a humid location, condensation mayform on the CD player lens. If this happens,allow the moisture to evaporate for at least onehour before inserting and/or playing a compactdisc.CAUTION: The Delphi CD Audio System is notdesigned to be immersed in water or otherliquids or come in continuous contact with water.12SECT ION 4
