C h a p t e r 7 Me m o r y C a r d7 - 77.5 Reading/Writing a Memory CardUsers can read/write data into/from a memory card to back up and update a system by means of the DIP switchon a CPU module.7.5.1 Backing up the SystemWhen a system backup is executed, the user program, the parameter setting, the hardware configuration, thenetwork configuration, and the values on the device memories in a CPU module are backed up and saved as afile called AUTOEXEC.dup, which is stored in a folder named SysDup in a memory card. If a default pathdenotes an existing backup file, the previous data in the old backup file is overwritten when a system is backedup.A system backup can be executed, whether a CPU module runs or stops. However, users have to make surethat the write protect tab on the left side of a SD card is slid upward before a system backup is executed. Thesystem backup procedure is as follows.(1) Turn DIP switch 3 ON, and turn the other switches OFF. If users do not want to back up the values on thedevice memories, they need to turn DIP switch 4 ON.(2) Press the CLR button on the CPU module for five seconds. When the system backup is executed, theSYSTEM LED indicator blinks. After the system backup is complete, the SYSTEM LED indicator is OFF.7.5.2 Restoring the SystemBefore a system restoration is executed, users have to make sure that the backup file AUTOEXEC.dup isstored in a folder named SysDup in a memory card. After the system restoration is executed, the user program, the parameter setting, the hardware configuration, and the network configuration in the memory card arerestored to a CPU module. In addition, if the data in the backup file includes the values on the device memories, the data restored to the CPU module will include the values on the device memories. Before a system restoration is executed, users have to disconnect a CPU module. The system backupprocedure is as follows.(1) Make sure that the CPU module is disconnected, turn DIP switch 2 ON, and turn the other switches OFF.When the system backup is executed, the SYSTEM LEDindicator blinks.1OFF ONComplete backup1OFF ONThe values in the devices are not backed up.OR
