– 33 – ENEnglishTROUBLESHOOTING GUIDEIf the DVD player does not perform properly when operated as instructed in this Operating Instruction, check the player, con-sulting the following checklist.NOTES:• Some functions are not available in specific modes, but this is not a malfunction. Read the description in this OperatingInstruction for details on correct operations.• Playback from a desired track and random playback are not available during program playback.• Some functions are prohibited on some discs.Problem Solution PageNo power - Check if the AC power cord is properly connected.- Unplug the AC cord once, and wait for 5-10 seconds and then plug it in again.--No sound or picture - Check if the TV is turned on.- Check the video and HDMI connection.- Check the AUDIO/VIDEO cable connections.- Check if the PURE DIRECT is set to ON. If it is the case, set it to OFF- Check if the PROGRESSIVE mode is set correctly.-15, 1613-151712, 28Distorted picture - Sometimes a small amount of picture distortion may appear.This is not a malfunction.- Connect the DVD player directly to the TV.- Check if the PROGRESSIVE mode is set correctly.- Check the TV TYPE. (MULTI, NTSC or PAL)-1512, 2817, 28Completely distorted picture or black/white picture with DVD- Connect the DVD player directly to the TV.- Make sure the disc is compatible with the DVD player.156No sound or distorted sound - Adjust the volume.- Check that the speakers are connected correctly.- The HDMI sound is not output during PURE DIRECT orwhen AUDIO MODE is set to ANALOG.-13-1517, 29No audio at digital output - Check the digital connections.- Check the audio settings.- Digital signals cannot be output with Super Audio CDs.Use analog connections.- Area/layer of Super audio CD being played (MULTI / STEREO / CD)does not match amplifier connections.13, 1629,3013, 16-No image from HDMI connection - Check the HDMI connection. (Check the status of the HDMI related indications.)- Check whether the connected monitor equipment or other equipment supportsHDCP. (This player will not output a video signal unless the other equipmentsupports HDCP.)- Connect the DVD player to the display equipment using the Audio/Videocables (supplied), and check the HDMI settings.- Check whether the output format of this player (HDMI FORMAT)matches the supported input format of other connected equipment.- Check if the PURE DIRECT is set to ON.If it is the case, set it to OFF.16, 171613-16, 291617Picture freezes momentarily duringplayback- Check the disc for fingerprints/scratches and clean with a soft cloth wipingfrom centre to edge.- Clean the disc.3434Disc cannot be played back - Clean the disc.- Ensure the disc label is facing up.- Check if the disc is defective by trying another disc.- Cancel the ratings control or change the control level.- Insert a correct disc that can be played back on this player.3417-316No return to start-up screen when discis removed- Reset the player by turning it off, then on again. -The DVD player does not respond tothe remote control- Aim the remote control directly at the sensor on the front of the player.- Reduce the distance to the player.- Replace the batteries in the remote control.- Re-insert the batteries with their polarities (+/- signs) as indicated.11-1111Buttons do not work or the playerstops responding- To completely reset the player, unplug the AC cord from the ACoutlet for 5-10 seconds.-The DVD player does not respond tosome operating commands duringplayback- Operations may not be permitted by the disc.Refer to the instructions of the disc.6The DVD player cannot readCDs/DVDs- Use a commonly available CD/DVD cleaner to clean the lens beforesending the DVD player for repair.34Angle does not switch - The angle cannot be switched for DVDs which do not containmultiple angles.
