ENGLISHGetting Started Operation Troubleshooting SpecificationsNOTE• Do not plug in the power cord until all connections have beencompleted.• When making connections, also refer to the operating instructionsof the other components.• Be sure to connect the left and right channels properly (left with left, right with right).• Do not bundle power cords together with connection cables. Doingso can result in humming or noise.• Do not turn up the volume when no turntable is connected to thePHONO input terminals. Doing so will cause humming or noise.Connections for all compatible audio signal format is described inthis operating instructions. Please select the types of connectionssuited for the equipment you are connecting.ConnectionsCables Used for ConnectionsSelect the cables according to the equipment being connected.PreparationsAudio cablesAnalog connections (stereo)(White)(Red) RLRLStereo pin-plug cableSpeaker connectionsSpeaker cablesConnecting the Audio EquipmentCarefully check the left (L) and right (R) channels and + (red) and –(black) polarities on the speakers being connected to the PMA-710AE,and be sure to interconnect the channels and polarities correctly.1 Peel off about 10 mm of sheathing fromthe tip of the speaker cable, then eithertwist the core wire tightly or terminateit.2 Turn the speaker terminalcounterclockwise to loosen it.3 Insert the speaker cable’s core wire tothe hilt into the speaker terminal.4 Turn the speaker terminal clockwise totighten it.NOTE• Connect the speaker cables in such a way that they do not stick outof the speaker terminals. The protection circuit may be activated ifthe core wires touch the rear panel or if the + and – sides touch eachother (v “Protection circuit”).• Never touch the speaker terminals while the power supply isconnected. Doing so could result in electric shock.Protection circuitThe protection circuit will be activated in the following cases:• When the speaker cable’s core wires are touching the rearpanel or screws or when the speaker cable’s + and – sides aretouching• When the surrounding temperature is extremely high• When the internal temperature rises due to extended use witha high outputIf this happens, unplug the power cord, then check the connectionsof the speaker cables and input cables. If the set’s temperatureis extremely high, wait for it to cool off and improve surroundingventilation. After doing this, plug the power cord back in.If the protection circuit is activated though there are no problemsin ventilation around the set or in connections, the set could bedamaged. Turn off the power, then contact a DENON servicing andinquiry outlet.Connecting the Speaker CablesConnecting the Speakersn Speaker impedanceSpeaker impedanceUse speakers with impedances within the ranges shown belowaccording to their usage conditions.Speakers used ImpedanceA or B 4 ~ 16 Ω/ohmsA and B 8 ~ 16 Ω/ohmsCautions on playing SA sources:When regular speakers not compatible with SA sources (DVD Audio discs, Super Audio CDs and other sources including treble componentsabove the audible range), set the properties of the player (DVD Audio player, Super Audio CD player, etc.) for use with regular speakers (oramplifiers). The speakers may be damaged if the volume is set too high when playing SA sources. For instructions on setting the player, refer to theoperating instructions included with the player.Connections
