14BHT-500B2.1 “BHT Preparation” ProcedureFollow the steps below to prepare the BHT for use.2.2 Loading and Charging the BatteryCartridge(Page 14) First load and charge the battery cartridge.2.3 Attaching the Hand Strap(Page 21)Attach the hand strap to prevent the BHT from beingdropped.2.4 Initial Setup(Page 22)Set the calendar clock when the power is turned ON forthe first time.2.2 Loading and Charging the Battery CartridgeThe battery cartridge is not charged when purchased and should therefore be charged prior to use.The chargers that can be use with the BHT are the communication units (CU-501, CU-511 and CU-521) and batterychargers (CH-501 and CH-551).* The CH-501 charger is used for charging individual batteries, and the CH-551 is a stand-type (same typeas CU (communication unit)) charger. The charge time is approximately 3 hours. The charge time is approximately 4 hours using the CU-521 with power supplied via the USB port. An only slightly discharged battery cartridge should take less time to become fully charged.Charging Precautions Do not touch the BHT, battery, or charger terminals by hand or stain them. Doing so could resultin a contact failure or prevent charging. Never charge the battery near fire or in a high-temperature environment.High-temperatures may activate the charger’s protective device, preventing charging, and leadto protective device damage, overheating, blowout or combustion. Terminate charging if not completed even after the specified time has elapsed.
