14Calibration/AdjustmentThe balance offers you variouscalibration/adjustment functions. You can select these functions bysetting the appropriate menu code. All models have a built-in calibrationweight.Using Verified Balances as LegalMeasuring Instruments in the EU*Before using your balance as a legalmeasuring instrument, you mustperform “Internal Calibration” at theplace of installation after the warmupperiod.Menu code selection: 1 9 3 **The calibration weight is internallyapplied by servomotor and removedat the end of calibration.Calibration is the determinationof the difference between the weightreadout and the true weight (mass) ofa sample. Calibration does not entailmaking any changes within thebalance.Adjustment is the correction of thisdifference between the measuredvalue displayed and the true weight(mass) of the sample, or the reduc-tion of the difference to an allowablelevel within maximum permissibleerror limits.During calibration, the sensitivityof the balance is adjusted to changesin the ambient conditions.Calibrate your new balance atthe place of installation after eachwarmup period and before the firstweight measurement. In verifiedmodels the balance should becalibrated at least once a day. When the display shows a zeroreadout, press the CAL key to activatecalibration. If any interference affects calibration, the error message “Err 02” isdisplayed briefly. In this case, tare and press the CALkey again.Important NoteDuring calibration, the weighing panmust be unloaded.** including the Signatoriesof the Agreement on the EuropeanEconomic Area** = factory setting
