Figure 27 shows incorrect burner flamepatterns. The incorrect burner flame patternsshow yellow tipping at top of blue flame.WARNING: If yellow tippingoccurs, your heater could pro-duce increased levels of carbonmonoxide. If burner flame pat-terns show yellow tipping, followinstructions below. Yellow flameon rear burner is normal.NOTICE: Do not mistake orangeflames with yellow tipping. Dirtor other fine particles are burnedby heater, causing brief patchesof orange flame. If burner flame patterns are incorrect, asshown in Figure 27• turn heater off (see To Turn Off Gas to Ap-pliance, page 17)• see Troubleshooting, page 20Check pilot flame pattern and burner flamepatterns often.pILOT FLAME pATTERNFigure 24 shows a correct pilot flame pattern.Figure 25 shows an incorrect pilot flame pat-tern. The incorrect pilot flame is not touchingthe thermocouple. This will cause the thermo-couple to cool. When the thermocouple cools, the heater will shut down.If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shownin Figure 25• turn heater off (see To Turn Off Gas to Ap-pliance, page 17)• see Troubleshooting, pages 20Note: The pilot flame on natural gas units willhave a slight curve, but the flame should beblue and have no yellow or orange color.CLEANING AND MAINTENANCEWARNING: Turn off heaterand let cool before cleaning.CAUTION: You must keep con-trol areas, burners and circulatingair passageways of heater clean.Inspect these areas of heaterbefore each use. Have heaterinspected yearly by a qualifiedservice person. Heater may needmore frequent cleaning due toexcessive lint from carpeting, pethair, bedding material, etc.BURNER FLAME pATTERNSFigure 26 shows correct burner flame pat-
