Becareful not to damage wall or mantel.11. Cut an access hole in base to run flexible gasline to fireplace (see Figure 13). Make sureto locate access hole so mantel will cover itwhen installed. Note: You can secure base tofloor using wood screws. Countersink screwheads and putty over.12. Install gas line. See Connecting To Gas Sup-ply, page 16.13. Check for leaks. See Checking Gas Connec-tions, page 17.14. Place mantel around fireplace. Be careful notto damage wall or mantel.15. Attachremaining two 3" wood screws from hardwarepack through openings inside of fireplace sidesinto the mantel. The openings are located at topbehind the area for top louver (see Figure 13).17. Reinstall top louver.Assembling Perimeter Trim (Perimetertrim shipped with mantel)1. Remove packaging from three remainingpieces of trim.2. Locate two adjusting plates with set screws,and two shims in the hardware packet.3. Align shim under adjusting plate as shown inFigure 14.4.Slide one end of adjusting plate/shim in slot onmitered edge of top brass trim (see Figure 14).5. Slide other end of adjusting plate/shim in sloton mitered edge of side perimeter trim (seeFigure 14).6. While firmly holding edges of perimeter trimtogether, tighten both set screws on the adjust-ing plate with slotted screwdriver.7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 for other corner.8. Lift screen off fireplace and remove log set ifinstalled.2. Remove 4 screws from upper louver (seeFigure 12, page 12). Save these screws.3. Pull upper louver straight out from the cabinet. Becareful not to scratch the paint. Set louver aside.4. Open lower louver door by swinging doordown (see Figure 12, page 12).
