Re-move starter collar and set aside. Slidetransition pipe over vent collar and attachwith a minimum of three screws. Replacestarter collar over transition pipe and attachusing four screws located on leg stands (fiveused on model M42). To install B-vent piping, slide the first piece of B-vent over transitionpipe and attach with either a minimum of twoscrews or other means approved by the ventmanufacturer. The total vertical height in thisexample represents the minimum height of 8feet and therefore the allowable lateral is 6feet when the 75% rule applies. If the laterallength must exceed 75% then the systemmust be sized in accordance with Category Iventing tables.Example 2: Shows a multiple offset each at45° of inclination. Multiple offsets are permit-ted if they do not exceed 45° of inclination. Thetotal lengths of the two offsets are not requiredto meet the 75% allowable rule.Example 3: Shows a single offset at 45° ofinclination and therefore the lateral length at10 feet of offset does not have to meet the75% rule.In each case the offsets must be supportedand firestops must be positioned whereverthe vent must pass through a sub-floor, ceil-ing joist or an attic overhang. The vent pipemust terminate vertically into a listed type ventcap and extend a sufficient height throughan approved roof flashing, roof jack or a roofthimble. At all points listed clearances mustbe maintained.Vent terminations must be located in ac-cordance with height and proximity rules ofNFPA No. 54. These rules apply to vents at12" diameter or less and require a minimumheight in accordance with the roof pitch and aminimum of 8 ft. distance from a vertical wallor obstruction (see Figure 11, page 10).A B-type venting system must be connectedto the appliance for venting to the outside ofthe building. The following section is provided as a guideto a standard B-type vent installation.Standing codes requirements concerning B-type vent installations may vary within yourstate, province or local codes jurisdiction. Therefore, it is recommended that you checkwith your local building codes for specificrequirements or in absence of local codes, follow Section 7.0 of the current National FuelGas Code ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54.This gas appliance must be vented to theoutdoors only and may not be terminated intoan attic space or into a chimney flue servicinga solid fuel burning appliance. This appliance may be vented through amanufactured chimney system or a masonrychimney using a B-vent adapter or a chim-ney liner system if all are listed, inspectedand approved by local codes and/or buildingauthorities. The examples shown in Figure 10, page 10are typical of most B-vent installations andcodes practices.Example 1: Shows the minimum allowablesystem height and lateral offset for a 60° orgreater inclination. Code specifies that offsetsat 60° or greater are considered horizontaland must follow the 75% rule for lateral tototal vertical system height. Codes also allowonly one offset in the total system when at
