Noncombustible Exterior Wall: Posi-tion horizontal vent cap in the center of 73/4" round hole and attach to exterior wallwith four wood screws provided. Beforeattaching vent cap to exterior wall, run abead of non-hardening mastic (pliablesealant) around outside edges to make aseal between it and outside wall.Note: The four wood screws providedshould be replaced with appropriate fas-teners for stucco, brick, concrete or othertypes of sidings.Combustible Exterior Wall: For vinylsiding, stucco or wood exteriors, a sidingstandoff may be installed between ventcap and exterior wall. The siding standoffprevents excessive heat from damagingsiding materials. Siding material must becut to accommodate standoff. Bolt ventcap to standoff. Apply non-hardeningmastic around outside edge of standoff.Position standoff/cap assembly in thecenter of the 10" square hole and attachto exterior wall with wood screws provided(see Figure 11). Siding standoff must sitflush against exterior fascia material.7. Combustible Exterior Wall Only: Slidewall firestop over vent pipe before con-necting horizontal run to vent cap (seeFigure 12).8. Carefully move fireplace, with vent as-sembly attached, toward wall and insertvent pipe into horizontal termination. Pipeoverlap should be a minimum of 1 1/4" (seeFigure 13, page 11).9. Combustible Exterior Wall Only: Slidewall firestop against interior wall surfaceand attach with screws provided. See Fig-ure 13, page 11, for horizontal terminationdetails.10. Place fireplace into position and shim withnoncombustible material if needed. Nail orscrew side flanges to framing to secureunit in place. IMPORTANT: Make sure fire-place is level before securing. If fireplaceis not level it will not work properly.Figure 10 - Installing Horizontal Vent Cap(Noncombustible Exterior)Wood ScrewVent CapFigure 11 - Installing Siding Standoff(Combustible Exterior Wall)Cut Siding Away toFit StandoffWoodScrewScrewsStandoffVentCapApply Mastic toAll Four SidesVent Cap(HorizontalTermination)Interior WallSurfaceWallFirestopHorizontalVent PipeFigure 12 - Connecting Vent Cap withHorizontal Vent PipeScrewApply Mastic toAll Four Sides
