However,there may be times you will desire the full flamesof the HI heat setting but will find the heat outputexcessive. You can open the chimney damper (ifyou have one) fully or partially to release someof the heat.WARNING: Damper handlewill be hot if heater has beenrunning.1. STOP! Read the safety information, col-umn 1.2. Make sure equipment shutoff valve is fullyopen.3. Set switch to OFF position.4. Press in and turn control knob clockwiseto the OFF position (see Figure 39,page 24).5. Wait five (5) minutes to clear out any gas.Then smell for gas, including near thefloor. If you smell gas, STOP! Follow “B”in the safety information, column 1. If youdon’t smell gas, go to the next step.
