The incorrect pilot flame is not touchingthe thermocouple. This will cause the thermo-couple to cool. When the thermocouple cools,the heater will shut down.If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shownin Figure 46• turn heater off (see To Turn Off Gas to Ap-pliance, page 25• see Troubleshooting, page 28Note: The pilot flame on natural gas units willhave a slight curve, but flame should be blueand have no yellow or orange color.Note: Do not hold hand-held remote for a longtime. Body temperature will affect its operationin the AUTO mode.Safety FeaturesWhen away from home for an extended periodof time or as a child safety feature to preventaccidental ignition of the fireplace, the receiverON/OFF/REMOTE switch should be in theOFF position.Auto Shutoff Feature1. If the average room temperature reachesa range of 82° F (28° C) to 92° F (33° C),hand-held remote control will perform asafety override and shut fireplace off. Thisfeature is not available in MANU mode.2. The receiver continuously receives sig-nals from the hand-held remote to controlthe room temperature. If the hand-heldremote is misplaced, obstructed or for anyreason cannot transmit to the receiver, thereceiver will shut off the fireplace. This willoccur in 8 or more minutes dependingupon location of remote transmitter anstrength of batteries.Key pad Lock FeatureThis feature allows the user to lock/unlock thekeypad on the hand-held remote in the MANUor AUTO mode to prevent inadvertent op-eration (i.e. children operating the hand-heldremote control, etc.). The keypad is locked ineither on or off. Press the POWER and LOCKbuttons together to turn the unit on or off.INSPECTING bURNERSAuto (Thermostatic) Mode1. Press the POWER and LOCK buttonstogether to turn on the hand-held remotecontrol.2. Press AUTO button to select this mode.3. Set the desired room temperature bypressing the TEMP + or - buttons.4. Press the POWER and LOCK buttonstogether to turn off the fireplaceNote: Do not leave hand-held remote in theAUTO mode close to the fireplace.
