Figure 39 shows incor-rect front and/or middle burner flame patterns. The incorrect burner flame patterns showyellow tipping at top of blue flame.WARNING: If yellow tippingoccurs, your heater could pro-duce increased levels of carbonmonoxide. If burner flame pat-terns show yellow tipping, followinstructions below. Yellow flameon rear burner is normal.NOTICE: Do not mistake orangeflames with yellow tipping. Dirtor other fine particles are burnedby heater, causing brief patchesof orange flame. If front and/or middle burner flame patternsare incorrect, as shown in Figure 39• turn heater off (see To Turn Off Gas to Appli-ance, page 21 [Thermostat-Controlled Mod-els] or page 24 [Remote-Ready Models])• see Troubleshooting, page 28WARNING: Turn off heaterand let cool before cleaning.CAUTION: You must keep con-trol areas, burner and circulatingair passageways of heater clean.Inspect these areas of heaterbefore each use. Have heaterinspected yearly by a qualifiedservice person. Heater may needmore frequent cleaning due toexcessive lint from carpeting, bedding material, pet hair, etc.WARNING: Failure to keepthe primary air opening(s) ofthe burner(s) clean may result insooting and property damage.BURNER INjECTOR HOLDERS ANDPILOT AIR INLET HOLESThe primary air inlet holes allow the properamount of air to mix with the gas. This pro-vides a clean burning flame. Keep theseholes clear of dust, dirt, lint and pet hair.Clean these air inlet holes prior to eachheating season. Blocked air holes will createsoot. We recommend that you clean the unitevery three months during operation andhave heater inspected yearly by a qualifiedservice person. We also recommend that you keep the burnertubes and pilot assembly clean and free ofdust and dirt. To clean these parts we recom-mend using compressed air no greater than30 PSI. Your local computer store, hardwarestore or home center may carry compressedair in a can. If using compressed air in a can, please follow the directions on the can. If youdon't follow directions on the can, you coulddamage the pilot assembly.
