26Recharging with a Generator’s Regulated 12 VDC OutletWARNING: Fire and explosion hazardThe generator output must be intended for battery chargingand have an output of 15 V or less. An unregulated outputor one that exceeds 15 V DC can damage the battery. Thismay lead to accumulations of hydrogen, causing exposureto fire and explosion hazard.Refer to the Owner’s Guide accompanying your generatorfor detailed instructions on connecting the generator to aunit like the Duracell ® Powerpack.You can recharge the battery of the Duracell ® Powerpackusing a generator in several ways:• Using a generator that has an auxiliary regulated12 V DC output designed for charging 12 V DCbatteries. Most generators are equipped with them.Use this power source for faster charging.• Using a generator with a regulated 12 V DC lightersocket. Follow the connection instructions in“Recharging with the DC Charging Cable” on page24. Using the AC charger to recharge the Duracell ®Powerpack from a generator is possible, but wouldrequire extended generator running time. Most ofthe Duracell ® Powerpack’s battery capacity will berecharged in a few hours.Note: The Battery Level LEDs are only accurate whenthe Duracell ® Powerpack has been disconnected from allappliances and all charging sources for 15 minutes. |
