8 UPS maintenanceThe components inside the UPS cabinet are secured to a sturdy metal frame. Allrepairable parts and assemblies are located for easy removal with very littledisassembly. This design allows authorized service personnel to perform routinemaintenance and servicing quickly. Schedule periodic performance checks ofyour UPS system to keep it running properly. Regular routine checks of theoperation and system parameters enable your system to function efficiently formany trouble-free years.8.1 Important safety instructionsRemember that your UPS system is designed to supply power EVEN WHEN ITIS DISCONNECTED FROM THE UTILITY POWER. The UPS module interiorsare unsafe until the DC power source is disconnected and the electrolyticcapacitors are discharged.After disconnecting the utility power and the DC power, authorized servicepersonnel must wait at least 5 minutes for capacitor bleed-off before attemptinginternal access to the UPS module.DANGERLETHAL VOLTAGE. Do not operate the UPS system without the cabinetdoors or protective panels secured. Do not make any assumptions about theelectrical state of any cabinet in the UPS system.WARNINGAll service and maintenance work must be performed only by servicepersonnel qualified and authorized by Eaton.CAUTIONAn additional warning label, shown in Figure36 , must be installed at the UPSinput terminals and all the primary power isolators used to isolate the UPSunit if the UPS input is connected through external isolators that, whenopened, isolate the neutral.
