Instructions for LOCAL mode operationFor DC Motor Operator Control wiring and outlineinformation, refer to Figure 5 and 8.1 POWER switch must remain ON for normaloperation Power OFF disables both controland motorsThe power switch is a 5-amp, DC breaker which willoperate in 1 to 3 seconds for 20 amps. Placing theswitch in the OFF position disables the DC, whichpowers both the control and the motors.2 SCADA switch must be set to LOCALTo operate the motors from the control panel, theSCADA switch must be set to LOCAL.3 Set MOTOR SELECT switch to desired motorTo read contact status or to select a motor to operate, set the MOTOR SELECT switch to the desired position.4 Confirm correct status indicators are litAfter selecting a motor, confirm that the status lightsindicate the actual position of the mechanism.5 Push OPEN or CLOSE pushbuttons to operatemotor Yellow light indicates motor operationin progress Push STOP to halt motor operationimmediately; then push OPEN or CLOSE tocomplete a full open or full close operation(See Note below)Push the appropriate pushbutton to perform the OPENor CLOSE operation. If necessary, push the STOPpushbutton to halt the motor immediately. Do not leavethe motor in this condition. Complete a full OPEN orCLOSE operation to prevent an inadvertent mechanismoperation.6 When complete, return MOTOR SELECT switch toOFF Set SCADA switch as desired Leave POWERswitch ON to permit SCADA operationThe status lights will remain lit as long as a motoris selected. If AC power is lost, the batteries willeventually be drained. Be sure to return the MOTORSELECT switch to the OFF position. Leave the POWERswitch on if SCADA operation is desired.otee:N The POWER SWITCH does not disable 120 AC or thebattery charger. To disconnect 120 Vac, remove thefuses or disconnect 120 Vac from Terminal P2.SCADA OperationRemote monitoring and control operation are providedthrough the SCADA terminals. The control is activated inthe REMOTE mode when the SCADA toggle switch is setto REMOTE.Features available through SCADA terminals:●● Select one of several motors.●● Read status of selected motor.●● Operate the selected motor.●● Monitor opening or closing action.REMOTE Mode FeaturesAll remote features are accessed through a terminal stripmounted on the relay circuit board. (See Figures 6 and 8).Remote operation is permitted only when the SCADAswitch is in the REMOTE position. The operation of each feature is described as follows:MOTOR SELECT CONTACTSe: Dry contacts for SCADAselection of a switch or interrupter mechanism for statusindication or operation. These contacts require a maintainedcontact closure for as long as the status is being read or themotor actuator is active. If this contact is opened during an operation, the motoractuator will stop immediately. If more than one motor isselected simultaneously, the lowest numbered motor willbe selected by default.STATUS CONTACTSe: Dry contacts which indicate openor closed status of the switch or interrupter mechanismselected via the SCADA Motor Select Contacts.CLOSE CONTACTe: Dry contact which initiates closing theswitch or interrupter mechanism selected via the MotorSelect contacts. A momentary contact closure betweenterminal 21 and terminal 22 on the SCADA terminal stripis required.OPEN CONTACTe: Initiates opening the switch orinterrupter mechanism, selected via the Motor Selectcontact. A momentary contact closure between terminal19 and terminal 20 on the SCADA terminal strip is required.CLOSING CONTACTe: Dry contact which indicates thatthe motor actuator is closing the switch or interruptermechanism selected via the Motor Select contacts. Themotor is closing when the contact is closed (terminals 1and 2).OPENING CONTACTe: Dry contact which indicates thatthe motor actuator is opening the switch or interruptermechanism selected via the Motor Select contacts. Themotor is opening when the contact is closed (terminals 3and 4).SCADA SWITCH POSITION CONTACTe: A dry contactwhich indicates the position of the SCADA switch. Whenthe SCADA switch is in the REMOTE position, this contactwill be closed. When the SCADA switch is in the LOCALposition, this contact will be open (terminals 5 and 6).6 OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS MN285018EN May 2017DC motor operator control installation and operation instructions
