Control operation-local modeThe operator panel is located inside, and at the top, of thecontrol cabinet. The operator panel contains the powertoggle switch, the SCADA toggle switch, the motor selectknob, the operation switches, and the status indicators.(See Figure 4).Local mode operationStatus and control operation are provided via the operatorpanel. The control is activated in the LOCAL mode when theSCADA toggle switch is set to LOCAL.Operations capabilities from the control panel:●● Select local or remote operation.●● Select one of several motors.●● Read status of selected motor.●● Operate the selected motor.●● Monitor opening or closing action.●● Test indicating lights.●● Read status of 120 Vac.●● Disconnect 120 Vac.●● Test battery (with user-supplied volt meter).●● Disconnect 24 Vdc.Local mode featuresFeatures and capabilities of the DC motor operatorcontrol, which can be accessed from the control panel, aredescribed as follows:POWER SWITCH (ON/OFF TOGGLE)e: Disconnects the DCvoltage to the control and motors. When the Power switchis in the OFF position, all control features are inactive withthe exception of the battery test feature. The AC supply willbe unaffected.SCADA SWITCH (TOGGLE)e: In the Local position, preventsthe operation of Open, Close, and Motor selection fromthe SCADA terminals. Operation of the motor operator isonly possible from the control panel. Conversely, placingthe SCADA toggle switch in the REMOTE position preventsthe operation of Open, Close, and Motor selection fromthe control panel. Operation of the motor operator is onlypossible via the SCADA terminal points. (Also see ControlOperation-Extended Control).MOTOR SELECT SWITCH (ROTARY)e: Selects which motoris active for status indication and operation. This switchshould be returned to the OFF position after operation iscompleted to disable the panel indicating lights so as toavoid battery drain.CLOSE (RED PUSH BUTTON)e: Closed the selected switchor interrupter mechanism via the motor operator.OPEN (GREEN PUSH BUTTON)e: Opens the selectedswitch or interrupter mechanism, via the motor operator.STOP (YELLOW PUSH BUTTON)e: Stops the motor-operated opening or closing action of the selected switch orinterrupter mechanism.otee:N Mechanisms should not be left between an openand closed position. A mis-operation could occur.Restart the motor and actuate to a fully OPEN or fullyCLOSED position.LAMP TEST (WHITE PUSH BUTTON)e: Checks statusindicator lights by energizing all lights.CLOSED INDICATION (RED LIGHT)e: Indicates thatthe selected switch or interrupter mechanism is in theCLOSED position.OPEN INDICATION (GREEN LIGHT)e: Indicates that theselected switch mechanism is in the OPEN position. It alsoindicates that the fault interrupter mechanism is in eitherthe OPEN or TRIPPED position.CLOSING INDICATION (YELLOW LIGHT)e: Indicatesthat the motor actuator is closing the selected switch orinterrupter mechanism.OPENING INDICATION (YELLOW LIGHT)e: Indicatesthat the motor actuator is opening the selected switch orinterrupter mechanism.otee:N Do not move MOTOR SELECT switch during motoroperation as motor will halt partially operated andactuation may transfer to new motor selection.Do not leave motor partially operated. The interruptermay be on the verge of operating. Complete actuationto either the fully open or fully closed position.IMPORTANTThe VFI mechanism is a trip-free mechanism If the VFIis closed by a motor operator and a fault occurs, thehandle will be held in the CLOSED position, but the VFImechanism will trip and the control panel will indicateOPEN To reset the VFI, select the correct motor and pushthe OPEN pushbutton The motor operator will open andreset the VFI The VFI can then be closed by pushing theCLOSE push buttonBattery charger boardThe battery charger, battery test pushbutton, AC indicatorlight, fuses, and 120 Vac terminals are located inside, andat the bottom of, the control housing. See Figures 2 and 3.The charger board can receive 120 Vac from either of thetwo 120 Vac sources which can be connected simultaneouslythrough the supply terminals (See Figures 2 and 3). Each120 Vac supply is fused on the board with a 1A fuse.3OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS MN285018EN May 2017DC motor operator control installation and operation instructions
