ApplicAtionGRUE Series Outlet Boxes are installed in conduit and cable systemswithin hazardous areas to protect conductors in threaded rigid conduit,act as pull and splice boxes in conduit or cable systems, interconnectlengths of conduit, change direction of conduit and provide access toconductors for maintenance and future system changes.GRUE Series Outlet Boxes are suitable for indoors or outdoors in ClassI, Groups B, C and D, Class II, Groups E, F and G and Class III hazardous(classified) areas as defined by the National Electrical Code® and theCanadian Electrical Code®.GRUE boxes are supplied with an “O” ring gasket for the cover openingthat makes the enclosure watertight.instAllAtionWARninGto reduce the risk of ignition of hazardous atmospheres;disconnect equipment from supply circuit before opening. Hazardous location information specifying classand group listing is marked on the cover of each outlet box. All unusedentries must be plugged. Plug must engage a minimum of five fullthreads and be a minimum of 1/8” thick.1. Securely fasten enclosure to the mounting location, then attach intoconduit system or terminate cable connectors.The GRUE shall be connected by means of suitable cable glands orconduit systems.2. Unthread enclosure cover and carefully set aside to prevent damageto cover threads.cAUtionUse care to prevent dirt, grit or other foreign material from lodgingonto threads. If any such material settles on these threads, clean themwith kerosene or Stoddard solvent, then relubricate with Crouse-HindsType STL thread lubricant.3. Pull wires into enclosure, making sure they are long enough tomake any required connections.4. Test wiring for correctness with continuity checks and also forunwanted grounds with insulation resistance tester.5. Rethread cover into enclosure housing and tighten cover.MAintenAnceWARninGto avoid explosion hazard; Always disconnect primary power sourcebefore opening enclosure for inspection or service.1. Frequent inspection should be made. A schedule for maintenancecheck should be determined by the environment and frequency ofuse. It is recommended that it should be at least once a year.2.
