Installation and maintenance procedure mustbe performed by a trained and competent electrician.To avoid electrical shock or electrocution, connectors withmale pins must not be used as the power source, as theuser may come in contact with energized contacts or othercomponents.Set screws are an integral part of explosion protection andmust be fully tightened while products are in use.Do not separate plug and receptacle while energized.WARNINGEXPLOSION HAZARDCovers must be installed while not in use and must be fullyengaged to each other while plug and receptacle are matedto protect integrity of device.WARNINGSHOCK HAZARDWARNINGSHOCK HAZARDWARNINGEXPLOSION HAZARDWARNINGEXPLOSION HAZARD6. Continue to populate remaining pin locations oninsert with pins. WARNING: ALL INSERT LOCATIONSMUST BE FULLY POPULATED WITH PINS.C. To reassemble male plug:1. Thread coupling nut (4) onto environmental cover (3).2. Thread cable adapter (1) (left hand thread) onto the maleskirt (2) and tighten to torque value found in Table 9.Verify male skirt (2) is wrenched fully to the shoulder ofthe cable adapter (1) to ensure environmental integrity.3A. Torque cable gland (5) to cable adapter (1) pertorque value found in Table 9. Verify sealing washer(10) in place between cable gland and cable adapter.3B. Finish installing cable gland to cable per cable glandmanufacturer’s instructions.4A. If using mechanical clamp (9) or basketweave (7), fillconnector with potting compound per Section 9.4B. Screw basketweave (7) or mechanical clamp (9)onto the end of the cable adapter (1). Screw itdown tight enough to squeeze the bushing (8)firmly against the cable. Fully tighten with wrench.4C. For mechanical clamp, tighten cord grip screws totorque found on Table 9.Section 2: Installation Instructions for Multi-pin Female In-line and Square Flange ReceptacleA. To disassemble female in-line receptacle:1. Place cable adapter (1) in rubber or aluminum jawed vice.Unscrew female skirt (2) (left hand thread) from cableadapter (1), keeping environmental cover (3) on femaleskirt (2).2. Remove cable adapter (1) from vice and place female skirt(2) in vice, clamping onto environmental cover (3) withwarning label facing down.B. To connect cable to female in-line receptacle:1. Thread cable through cable gland (5) or basketweave (7)and bushing (8) or mechanical clamp (9) and bushing (8).Then thread through the cable adapter (1) and allow to restfurther down the cable out of the way.2. Prepare cable and individual conductors followingdirections from Section 6.3. Terminate conductors onto pins per Section 6.4. Confirm resilient insert (6) is firmly in place within thefemale skirt (2). Locate pin location 1 on the insertand press desired pin into insert. Follow pin insertioninstructions from Section 7.5. Continue to populate remaining pin locations oninsert with pins. WARNING: ALL INSERT LOCATIONSMUST BE FULLY POPULATED WITH PINS.C. To reassemble female in-line receptacle:1. Thread cable adapter (1) (left hand thread) ontofemale skirt (2) and tighten to torque value found inTable 9. Verify female skirt (2) is wrenched fully to theshoulder of cable adapter (1) to ensure environmentalintegrity.2A. Torque cable gland (5) to cable adapter (1) per torquevalue found in Table 9. Verify sealing washer (10) inplace between cable gland and cable adapter.2B. Finish installing cable gland to cable per cable glandmanufacturer’s instructions.3A. If using mechanical clamp (9) or basketweave (7), fillconnector with potting compound per Section 9.3B. Screw basketweave (7) or mechanical clamp (9) ontothe end of the cable adapter (1). Screw it down tightenough to squeeze the bushing (8) firmly against thecable. Fully wrench tighten.3C. For mechanical clamp, tighten cord grip screws totorque found on Table 9.Reference Section 10 for maximum heat dissipation calculation, prior to installation.A. To disassemble male plug:1. Place cable adapter body (1) in rubber or aluminumjawed vice. Unscrew male skirt (2) (left hand thread)from cable adapter body (1), keeping environmentalcover (3) on male skirt (2).2. Remove cable adapter body (1) from vice and placemale skirt (2) in vice, clamping onto environmentalcover (3) with warning label facing down.3. Unscrew coupling nut (4) from environmental cover(3).B. To connect cable to male plug:1. Thread cable through cable gland (5) or basketweave(7) and bushing (8) or mechanical clamp (9) andbushing (8). Then thread through the cable adapter (1)and coupling nut (4) and allow to rest further downthe cable out of the way.2. Prepare cable and individual conductors followingdirections from Section 6.3. Terminate conductors onto pins per Section 6.4. Confirm resilient insert (6) is firmly in place within themale skirt (2).5. Locate pin location 1 on the insert and press desiredpin into insert. Follow pin insertion instructions fromSection 7.Section 3: Installation Instructions for Panel Mount ReceptacleA. Reference panel mount installation dimensionsin Table 1.B. To disassemble panel mount receptacle:1. Place square flange skirt (2) in rubber or aluminumjawed vice with top of environmental cover (3) facingthe floor. Unscrew panel mount adapter (1) (lefthand thread) from square flange skirt (2), keepingenvironmental cover (3) on square flange skirt (2).C. To connect cable to panel mount receptacle:1. Thread cable through panel mount adapter (1) and allowto rest further down the cable out of the way.2. If using multi-conductor cable, prepare cable andindividual conductors following directions from Section6. If using single conductor cable, prepare cable andindividual conductors following directions from Section8.3. Terminate multi-conduct or cable into insert perSection 6. If terminating single conductor cable, followinstructions from Section 8.D. To reassemble panel mount receptacle:1. Thread panel mount (1) adapter onto square flange skirt(2) and tighten to torque values found in Table 9.2. Fill connector with potting compound per Section 9. |
