INM MTL 130-0202 Rev 473.6 Katharometer/reactor assemblyThis is shown below. It must be mounted upright as shown, in an ambient that is between5°C and 55°C and not subjected to excessive vibration.Figure 2The katharometer’s inlet and outlet connections are suitable for ¼” dia. tubing. Any tubeattached to these must be capable of resisting moist chlorine and hydrogen chloridemixtures. If PFA tubing or similar is fitted then it should be grooved using the appropriate tool- obtainable from Swagelok (order code MS-GC-4) or from your local MTL Gas sales office.Grooving the tube is an enhancement and is not essential at the stipulated maximum pressureof the device. Note that to achieve an adequate seal the PFA (perfluoroalkoxy) coupling nutsmust be tightened down to their end-stops, and then until the hexagons sides of the nut andfitting line up – See Fig. 3. Always support the body of the coupling with another tool whentightening. If an alternative to PFA tubing is used in the compression fitting then it must be sufficientlyrigid so as to prevent collapse when the nut is fully tightened. To prevent the possibility of‘flash backs’ if exceptional hydrogen concentrations are experienced, it is advisable to fitflame traps at the sample inlet and outlet. Do not pressurise the katharometer assembly togreater than 1 barg (i.e. 1 bar gauge) i.e. no more than 0.1 MPa or 15 p.s.i.g.When in measurement mode the internal katharometer pressure must be within ± 0.1 barg formeasurement accuracy.Figure 3Reactor TubeFRAGILE!Four mounting holes on220mm x 130mm centres, suitable for M6 (¼”) screwsWARNINGThese parts run HOTin normal operationOutline of heat shield240mm150mmInlet and outlet connectorssuitable for ¼” OD tubing.See Fig. 3 for assembly details. The tubing used must be resistant tomoist chlorine and hydrogen chloride.Cables - approximately 2 metresSide viewofKatharometer AssemblyThe katharometer serialnumber MUST be the sameas that on the KatharometerIdentity Module (KIM).See Control Electronicsdrawing for the location.Katharometer wires1 - Green - Katharometer Sense 12 - Black - Katharometer Ground3 - Red - Katharometer Sense 24 - Black - Katharometer Ground5 - White - Katharometer Reference6 - Black - Katharometer GroundReactor wires7 - Green - Thermocouple +8 - White - Thermocouple -(9) - White - Heater Supply(10) - White - Heater Supply18v AC fromcontrollerReactor FurnaceCorrosion ResistantDual KatharometerSerial No. GKD 1234HITECH INSTRUMENTS120-0482-1SampleOut InMaximum Pressure200kPa ( 2 Bar ) ABS120-0483-1Front Corrosion ResistantSerial No. GKD 0000Dual Katharometer¼ ” O .
