Smokingdoes not normally set off the alarm unless smoke is blown directly intothe smoke detector. If the smoke detector does alarm, check for firesfirst. If a fire is discovered, leave immediately and call the firedepartment. If no fire is present, check the smoke detector and thesurrounding area to verify that the smoke detector was installed in theproper manner.Resetting the Smoke DetectorTo reset the smoke detector after a false alarm, press the test buttononce.MaintenanceThe smoke detector is virtually maintenance free. However, under dustyconditions, a vacuum hose may be used to clear the sensing chamber ofdust. Do not remove the smoke detector’s cover when vacuum is used.Replace the battery yearly. The smoke detector has a low batterymonitoring indicator which will “chirp” at approximately 20 secondintervals for a minimum of 7 days.
