Eaton - Lighting Systems iLight Product Series - UIG-2 73-898-00 IM8840 Iss.02 6Input and Output ConnectionAnalogue / Digital InputsThe UIG-2 has 4 inputs that can be individuallyconfigured for either analogue or digitaloperation.Opto-isolated Digital InputsThe unit has four opto-isolated digital inputs. These inputs offer greater electrical protectionthan the analogue/digital inputs, but can onlybe used in digital mode. The opto-isolation also offers better electricalnoise rejection for those installations wherethis could be a problem. To use these inputs, an external supply isrequired, connected to the 12Vin pin.0VOpto is provided as a landing connection forconvenience. An LED gives visual indicationwhen a supply is connected across 12Vin and0Vopto.Instead of an external supply, the 50mAcurrent limited 12Vout supply can be used, however this will bypass the optical isolation. To use this supply, connect 12Vout to 12Vinand 0V to 0Vopto at the connector.Switch closure is made between the input and0Vopto. Wire distance from the device to theUIG-2 should not exceed 10m (32 feet). The function of each input is programmablewith iCANsoft.Analogue ModeIn analogue mode, the inputs have a voltagerange of 0V to 10V. The input device isconnected across the appropriate input and the0V reference. Wire distance from the device tothe UIG-2 should not exceed 10m 32 feet).50mA current limited, regulated voltagesources of 5V and 12V are also available at theconnector for devices such as variable resistorswithout the need for an external supply.Should the power supply to the UIG-2 bebelow 12V, then the 12V source will follow theUIG-2 supply voltage.Digital ModeIn digital mode, switches can be connectedbetween the appropriate input and 0V.The input functions can be programmed tooperate on both a switch closure and release.
