16Entrapment protectionTo comply with the UL325 standard for gate operators everyentrapment zone, as defined in ASTMF2200, must be pro-tected by two independent entrapment protection devices.One of the devices is inherent in the FAAC operators or thecontrol board design, the other can be external, like a pho-tocell or an edge sensor.See the following picture for the photocells positioning:Closing Safety Devices Opening SafetyDevicesOpening Safety Devices:Are active only during the gate opening movement, andare suitable for protecting the area between the openingleaves and fixed obstacles (walls, etc) agains the risk ofentrapmentClosing Safety Devices:Are active only during the gate closing movement, and aresuitable for protecting the closing area against the risk ofentrapment.Monitored Devices:Additionaly the UL325 standard requires that every externalentrapment protection device must be monitored forpresence and correct operation.
