7enSafety warnings specific for sandingoperationsDo not use excessively oversized sanding discpaper. Follow manufacturers recommenda-tions, when selecting sanding paper. Largersanding paper extending beyond the sandingpad presents a laceration hazard and maycause snagging, tearing of the disc, or kick-back.Safety warnings specific for wirebrushing operationsBe aware that wire bristles are thrown by thebrush even during ordinary operation. Do notoverstress the wires by applying excessive loadto the brush. The wire bristles can easily pen-etrate light clothing and/or skin.If the use of a guard is recommended for wirebrushing, do not allow any interference of thewire wheel or brush with the guard. Wirewheel or brush may expand in diameter dueto work load and centrifugal forces.Additional safety warningsUse elastic spacers/liners when these are pro-vided with the grinding accessory.Make absolutely sure that the accessory ismounted in accordance with the manufac-turer’s instructions. The mounted accessorymust be able to rotate freely. Incorrectlymounted accessories can loosen during oper-ation and fly off.Handle accessories carefully and store themaccording to the manufacturer’s instructions.Damaged accessories can form cracks andbreak off during operation. When using application tools with a threadedinsert, take care that the thread in the applica-tion tool is long enough to hold the spindlelength of the power tool. The thread in theapplication tool must match the thread on thespindle. Incorrectly mounted application toolscan loosen during operation and cause inju-ries.Beware of any concealed electric cables, gas orwater conduits; check the working area with ametal detector, for example, before com-mencing work.Use a stationary extraction system, blow outventilation slots frequently and connect aresidual current device (RCD) on the line side. When working metal under extreme operat-ing conditions, it is possible for conductivedust to settle in the interior of the powertool. The total insulation of the power toolcan be impaired. This double-insulated power tool is equippedwith a polarized plug (one contact is wider thanthe other). The plug will only fit into the polar-ized socket outlet in one position. Turn the plugif it does not fit completely into the socket out-let. If the plug still does not fit, have a qualifiedelectrician install a polarized socket outlet. Donot modify or alter the plug under any circum-stances. Double-insulated power tools nei-ther require a three-core power cable nor apower connection with ground contact.Operate the power tool only off of power sup-plies whose voltage and frequency values cor-respond with the values on the type plate of thepower tool. When operating the power tool in a damp envi-ronment, it must be connected via a ground-fault circuit interrupter (g.f.c.i.). Using specialrubber protective gloves and footwearincrease your own safety.Recommendation: The tool should always besupplied with power via a residual currentdevice (RCD) with a rated current of 30 mA orless.Use clamps or another practical way to secureand support the workpiece to a stable platform.Holding the work by hand or against yourbody leaves it unstable and may lead to loss ofcontrol. Before mounting or replacing application toolsor accessories, pull the power plug. This pre-ventive safety measure rules out the danger ofinjuries through accidental starting of thepower tool.3 41 01 121 21 0.book Seite 7 Montag, 22. August 2011 1:11 13
