The displaywill show PrE while preheating. When the ovenreaches the selected temperature, the ovencontrol will beep several times and the displaywill show the oven temperature.NOTE: You will hear the convectionfan (on some models) while the oven ispreheating. The fan will stop after the ovenis preheated and the display shows yourset temperature. This is normal.To change the oven temperature duringthe BAKE cycle, touch the BAKE pad and thenthe number pads to get the new temperature.Check food for doneness at the minimumtime on the recipe. Cook longer ifnecessary.Touch the CLEAR/OFF pad when baking isfinished, and then remove the food fromthe oven.Preheating and Pan PlacementTo avoid possible burns, place the racksin the desired position before you turn onthe oven.Preheat the oven if the recipe calls for it.Preheating is necessary for good results whenbaking cakes, cookies, pastries and breads.If baking four cake layers at the same time,place two layers on rack C and two layers onrack E. Stagger pans on the rack so one is notdirectly above the other.Baking results will be better if food is centered inthe oven as much as possible. Angel food cakeis the exception and should be placed on thebottom oven rack (position A). Follow packagedirections on prepackaged and frozen foods forpan placement. Pans should not touch eachother or the walls of the oven. If you need touse two racks, stagger the pans so one is notdirectly above the other. Leave approximately11⁄ 2″ between pans and from the front, backand sides of oven wall.Do not place foods directly on the ovenfloor.GEAppliances.com
