Turn temperature control to OFF.2. Remove all food and place it incorrugated boxes, insulated bags,picnic coolers, etc. Use towelsand newspapersfor insulation asneeded,3. With door open, use pansof hotwater to speed loosening of frost.Remove large pieces before theymelt.4. A drain hose (on models soequipped) behind the base grillecarries the defrost water out fromthe freezer. Remove the basegrille;then remove the drain plug and letthe defrost water drain into a pan.Sponge excess water from bottomof freezer as it collects to preventoverflowing.Toremovethebasegril!e(on modelsso equipped),graspthe grille at bothends and pull outward.5. After defrosting, clean inside offreezer (see page 10).6. Return temperature control toregular position and return foodto freezer.7. Be sureto replacedrainplug(on models so equipped) and returndrain tube to its position.8.
