GEAppliances.comCleaning the Exterior Door PanelBefore cleaning the front panel, makesure you know what type of panel you have.Refer to the last two letters of your modelnumber. You can locate your model numberon the left-hand tub wall just inside the door.If your model number ends with BB, CC, WW,SA or BG, then you have a Painted Doorpanel. If your model number ends with SS,then you have a Stainless Steel Door panel. Ifyour model number ends with CS, then youhave a CleanSteel panel.Follow the instructions below for cleaning thedoor panel for your specific model.Painted Door Panel (model numbers endingin BB–black, CC–bisque, WW–White, SA–silvermetallic or BG–graphite black)Use a clean, soft, lightly dampened cloth,then dry thoroughly. You may also use agood appliance wax or polish.Stainless Steel Door Panel (model numbersending in SS)The stainless steel panels can be cleanedwith Stainless Steel Magic or a similar productusing a clean, soft cloth. Do not use appliancewax, polish or any chemical agent onCleanSteel doors.Do not wipe the dishwasher with a soileddish cloth or wet towel. These may leavea residue. Do not use scouring pads orpowdered cleaners because these productscan scratch the finish.Cleaning the Control PanelTo clean the control panel, use a lightlydampened cloth. Then dry thoroughly.Check the air gap any time yourdishwasher isn’t draining well.An air gap protects your dishwasher againstwater backing up into it if a drain clogs. Theair gap is not a part of the dishwasher. It isnot covered by your warranty. Not allplumbing codes require air gaps, so you maynot have one. If the air gap gets clogged, thedishwasher will not drain. Clean the air gapif the dishwasher will not drain.The air gap is easy to clean.Turn off the dishwasher and lift off thecover.Remove the plastic cap and clean witha toothpick.21Air gap Does Your Dishwasher Have an Air Gap?Stainless Steel Interior—Tub and Inner DoorThe stainless steel used to make thedishwasher tub and inner door providesthe highest reliability available in a GEdishwasher. If the dishwasher tub or innerdoor should be scratched or dented duringnormal use, they will not rust or corrode.These surface blemishes will not affecttheir function or durability.17If your dishwasher is left in an unheated placeduring the winter, ask a service technician to:Cut off electrical power to thedishwasher. Remove fuses or tripcircuit breaker.Turn off the water supply and disconnectthe water inlet line from the water valve.Drain water from the water inlet lineand water valve.
