Using the self-cleaning oven. (on some models)Before a Clean CycleThe oven must be cool in order to set the self-clean cycle.We recommend venting your kitchen with anopen window or using a ventilation fan or hoodduring the first self-clean cycle.Remove broiler pan, broiler grid, all cookwareand any aluminum foil from the oven.The shiny, silver-colored oven racks (on somemodels) can be self-cleaned, but they willdarken, lose their luster and become hard toslide.Do not use abrasives or oven cleaners. Clean thetop, sides and outside of the oven door with soapand water.Make sure the oven light bulb cover (on somemodels) is in place and the oven light is off.IMPORTANT: The health of some birds isextremely sensitive to the fumes given off duringthe self-cleaning cycle of any oven. Move birds toanother well-ventilated room.Wipe up heavy soil on the ovenbottom.How to Set the Oven for CleaningTouch the Self Clean pad.Using the + or – pad, enter the desiredclean time, if a time other than 4 hours isneeded.Clean cycle time is normally 4 hours You canchange the clean time to any time between2.5 and 5 hours, depending on how dirty youroven is.Touch the Start pad.The door locks automatically. The displaywill show the clean time remaining. It will notbe possible to open the oven door until thetemperature drops below the lock temperatureand the Locked Door light goes off.When the Locked Door light is off, open thedoor.■ The words Lock Door will flash and the ovencontrol will signal if you set the clean cycleand forget to close the oven door.■ To stop a clean cycle, touch the Clear/Offpad. When the Locked Door light goes offindicating the oven has cooled below thelocking temperature, open the door.NOTE: For heavily soiled ovens use maximumself clean cycle time (5 hours).SELFCLEAN20
