Onsome models, a screw at the front of thelight shield will have to be removed. Onother models, the screw is located in thepocket located at the back of the shield.To remove the light shield, on some models,press in on the tabs on the sides of theshield and slide forward and out. On othermodels, just slide the shield forward andout.After replacing the bulb with an appliancebulb of the same or lower wattage, replacethe light shield and screw. When replacingthe light shield, make sure that the tabs atthe back of the shield fit into the slots at theback of the light shield housing.Plug the refrigerator back in.TabsYour light shield will look likeone of the following:PocketORFor long vacations or absences, remove foodand unplug the refrigerator. Clean the interiorwith a baking soda solution of one tablespoon(15 ml) of baking soda to one quart (1 liter) ofwater. Leave the doors open.Set the icemaker power switch to the OFFposition and shut off the water supply to therefrigerator.If the temperature can drop below freezing,have a qualified servicer drain the water supplysystem (on some models) to prevent seriousproperty damage due to flooding.Care and cleaning of the refrigerator. (cont.)Behind the RefrigeratorBe careful when moving the refrigerator awayfrom the wall. All types of floor coverings canbe damaged, particularly cushioned coveringsand those with embossed surfaces.Pull the refrigerator straight out and return itto position by pushing it straight in. Moving therefrigerator in a side direction may result indamage to the floor covering or refrigerator.When pushing the refrigerator back, makesure you don’t roll over the power cord oricemaker supply line (on some models).Preparing for VacationPreparing to MoveSecure all loose items such as shelves anddrawers by taping them securely in place toprevent damage.When using a hand truck to move therefrigerator, do not rest the front or back of therefrigerator against the hand truck. This coulddamage the refrigerator. Handle only from thesides of the refrigerator.Be sure the refrigerator stays in an uprightposition during moving.
