32Oven RacksAll oven racks may be cleaned by hand with anabrasive cleaner or steel wool. After cleaning,rinse the racks with clean water and dry with aclean cloth. Gray porcelain-coated oven racksmay remain in the oven during the self-cleaningcycle without being damaged. The nickel-platedoven racks may remain in the oven during theself-cleaning cycle, but they will lose their lusterand become hard to slide. It will be necessaryto grease all oven rack side edges with a lightcoating of vegetable oil after cleaning them byhand or in the oven. This will help maintain theease of sliding the racks in and out of the oven.Flat rackHandlesFor double ovens, use the rack with thetwo front handles in the upper oven.For double ovens, use the rackwithout the two front handles inthe lower oven.Extension racks may be cleaned by handwith an abrasive cleaner or steel wool. Duringcleaning, be careful not to allow water orcleaner to enter the extension slides on thesides of the rack.NOTE: Do not clean in a dishwasher.If the rack becomes hard to remove or replace,lightly wipe the oven rack supports withcooking oil. Do not wipe cooking oil on theslides.If the rack becomes difficult to slide or if thepaddle is difficult to actuate, the rack mayneed to be lubricated using the GraphiteLubrication shipped with your oven. SeeExtension Rack in the Using the ovensection.Fully extend the rack on a table orcountertop. Newspaper may be placedunderneath the rack for easy cleanup.If there is debris in the slide tracks, wipe itaway using a paper towel.NOTE: Any graphite lubricant wiped awaymust be replaced - see steps 4 through 7.Shake the graphite lubricant beforeopening it. Starting with the left slidemechanism of the rack, place four (4)small drops of lubricant on the two (2)bottom tracks of the slide close to thebearing carriers.Repeat for the right slide mechanism ofthe rack.Open and close the rack several times todistribute the lubricant.Replace the cap on the lubricant andshake it again. Turn the rack over andrepeat steps 3, 4, 5 and 6.Close the rack, turn rack right-side-up andplace in the oven.
