11Radiantsurface unitsThe radiant cooktop features heating unitsbeneath a smooth glass surface.NOTE: This cooktop has Rapid Response surfaceunits. The cooktop will automatically heat up or cooldown to the desired power level setting in the quickesttime possible. While the surface units are on, youmay not see them glow red during certain heat up orcool down conditions.Cooktop temperatures increase with the numberof surface units that are on. With 3 or 4 unitsturned on, surface temperatures are high.Always use caution when touching the cooktop.The ON/OFF indicator lights will come onnext to the Warmer and Dual surface unitswhen activated. Lights also activate for the(Pan Detect) and (Control Lock) featureswhen they are turned on. The indicator lightswill go off when the surface unit or feature isturned off.The appropriate HOT SURFACE indicator lightwill glow when its corresponding radiant elementis turned on, and will remain on until the surfacehas cooled below 150°F.NOTE:Hot surface indicator light will:• Come on when the surface unit is turned on.• Stay on even after the unit is turned off.• Glow brightly until the unit has cooled below 150°F.NOTE: A slight odor is normal when a new cooktop isused for the first time. It is caused by the heating ofnew parts and insulating materials and willdisappear in a short time.It is safe to place hot cookware from the oven orsurface on the glass cooktop when the surface iscool. Never place cookware on the control area.Even after the surface units are turned off, theglass cooktop retains enough heat to continuecooking. To avoid overcooking, remove pansfrom the surface units when the food is cooked.Avoid placing anything on the surface unit untilit has cooled completely.Never cook directly on the glass.Always use cookware.
