Drawerscannot be installed below the downdraftvent or downdraft grill components. Theblower may be installed in the cabinet orlocated downstream from the plenum inthe duct run.–Shorter length drawers may be installedbelow gas components, allowing for gasinlet clearance.• Do not cut holes for ductwork locations untilcomponents are on-site, with countertop inplace, and all pre-planned locations areconfirmed.• Always pre-plan electrical and gasconnections to be accessible at the time ofinstallation.• Consider the distance to power supply, cablelength and bending restrictions beforecutting holes.• Gas components are not convertible to liquidpropane operation.• In the absence of local codes, the gas cooktopmust comply with the National Fuel GasCode, ANSI Z223.1, latest edition.UL, A.G.A. approved.InstallationOptions• Multiple gas and electric components can becombined to form one custom cookingarrangement.–Multiple electric components can operatefrom a single junction box, if local codespermit.–Multiple gas components can operate froma manifold, as permitted by local codes.• Updraft components can be ventedaccording to normal exhausting methods.• The downdraft vent and grill blower assemblymay be vented downwards to the left or rightsides or through the floor. See page 11.–The motor blower assembly can bemounted in the cabinet or under the floor.The blower will fit between floor joists on16" centers.–The plenum on the downdraft grill andvent is shipped with the discharge on theleft side. It can be changed to dischargefrom the right side.• JXBC55 optional outdoor cover accessorymay be ordered for installation of blowerand motor assembly on an outside wall.InstallationRules• Never vent a cooktop into an interior space -always to the outdoors.• The updraft grill requires an overhead ventwith at least 300 CFM.• DO NOT install an updraft grill componentnext to a downdraft vent.• DO NOT install a downdraft vent behind acooktop.• DO NOT install a gas or grill cooktop wherethe knobs are between the heated area andthe downdraft vent.
