Ice & Chilled Water DispenserAutomatic Icemaker andIce & Water DispenserYour refrigerator has an automaticicemaker and a dispenser thatdispenses chilled water, ice cubesand crushed ice through the freezercompartment door. Here’s howthey work.Water flows from the householdsupply through a(1)dual solenoid valve to the(2) water reservoir and to the(3) automatic icemaker as needed.Water is frozen in the(4) cube mold and ejected into the(5) storage bin where a motor-powered auger moves cubes forwardinto the dispensing unit. Cubes orcrushed ice, as selected, dispensethrough chute in door when cradleis pressed.When the switch is moved toCRUSHED, baffle in housingchannels cubes through the crusherand crushed ice falls through chuteinto glass.Chilled water from reservoir flowsthrough the(6) tubing in the door and isdispensed when the cradle ispressed.(’7)A light switch turns the night]ight* in the dispenser on or off.‘Light switch and night light onmoiie[s TFX24R , TmW4R andT~24V onlyImportant Facts aboutYour Ice &Water Dispenserl Youricemaker will produce eightcubes per cycle-approximately120cubes in a 24-hour period—depending on freezer compartmenttemperature, room temperature,number of door openings and otheruse conditions.l Intermittent dispensing of ice isnormal. If ice flow interruption ismore than brief, ice clump(s) maybe the cause and should be removedfollowing instructions below andon page 7.l Avoid overfilling glasses withice and using narrow or extra-tallglasses. This can jam the chute orcause the door in the chute tofreeze shut. Periodically open thefreezer compartment door and lookdown into the chute. If ice isblockingthe chute, poke it throughwith a wooden spoon.l To help keep bits of ice frombeing sprayed beyond the glass,place glass close to ice chute—but not so close that it blocksoutcoming ice.l Ice should not be dispensedinto thin glasses, fine china ordelicate crystal-they can crack orchip from the combined pressure ofyour hand pressing them against thecradle and ice dropping into thecontainer.l Ice should be dispensed beforefilling glass with soda or otherbeverage mixes. This will preventsplashing which is annoying andwhich, if the splash reaches the iceand water selector switch, couldcause it to stick or bind.l Beverages and foods should notbe quick-chilled in the ice storagebin. Cans, bottles or food packagesin the storage bin may cause theicemaker to malfunction.l Ice other than that producedby your icemaker should not beadded to the ice storage bin—itmay not crush or dispense well.Before Using YourIcemaker and DispenserIf you use your refrigerator beforethe water connection is made, raisethe ice access door and make surethe icemaker feeler arm is in theOFF (up) position as shown below.Ice accessdoorIcemakerinWhen water supply has beenconnected to icemaker, move feelerarm to ON (down) position.rmown)Depress water dispenser cradlefor about two minutes to removetrapped air from the water line andto ffil water reservoir automatically.Ice cube mold automatically fillswith water after cooling to freezingtemperatures.
