11Before using for the first timeHere you will find everything you need to do beforeusing the appliance to prepare food for the first time.First read the section on Important safety information .The appliance must be fully installed and connected tothe mains.After connection to the mains, the "Initial settings"menu appears in the display. You can now makesettings for your new appliance.▯ Language▯ Time format▯ Time▯ Date format▯ Date▯ Temperature formatNotes‒ The "Initial settings" menu appears only when theappliance is switched on for the first time afterbeing connected to the mains or when theappliance has been without electricity for severaldays.After the appliance is connected to the mains, theGAGGENAU logo is displayed for approx. 30seconds before the "Initial settings" menu isautomatically displayed.‒ You may change the settings at any time (refer tothe Basic settings section).Setting the languageThe preset language appears in the display.1 Turn the rotary selector to select the requireddisplay language.2 Confirm with ™.Note: If the language is changed, the system restarts.This takes a few seconds.Setting the time formatThe two possible formats 24h and AM/PM appear inthe display. The default is the 24h format.1 Use the rotary selector to select the desiredformat.2 Confirm with ™.Setting the clockThe time is shown in the display.1 Set the desired time using the rotary selector.2 Confirm with ™.Setting the date formatThe three possible formats D.M.Y, D/M/Y and M/D/Yappear in the display.
