13Activating the applianceStandbyThe appliance goes into standby mode if no functionhas been set or the child lock is activated.The brightness of the control panel is dimmed instandby mode.Notes‒ Different displays are available for standby mode.The default setting is the GAGGENAU logo and theclock. To change the display, refer to the Basicsettings section.‒ The brightness of the display depends on thevertical viewing angle. You can adjust the displayusing the "Brightness" setting in the basic settings.Activating the applianceTo exit standby mode, you can either▯ Turn the function selector,▯ Touch a control panel,▯ Open or close the door.You can now set the desired function. You can readabout how to set functions in the respective chapters.Notes‒ When "Standby screen = off" is selected in thebasic settings, you must turn the function selectorto exit standby mode.‒ The appliance returns to the standby screen if youhave not made any settings for a long time afteractivation.‒ When the door is open, the interior lightingswitches off after a short time.Operating the applianceCooking compartmentThe cooking compartment has five shelf positions. Theshelf positions are counted from the bottom up.Caution!– Do not place anything on the cooking compartmentfloor. Do not cover it with aluminium foil. A build-upof heat could damage the appliance.– Do not slide any accessories between the shelfpositions, or they may tip.Inserting accessoriesThe accessories are equipped with a locking function.The locking function prevents the accessories fromtilting when they are pulled out. The accessories mustbe inserted into the cooking compartment correctly forthe tilt protection to work properly.When inserting the wire rack, check▯ that the lug (a) is pointing downwards▯ that the safety bar on the wire rack is at the backand facing upwards.DD
