4517957 Rev. 2 (06/05)Page 16CONVERSION INSTRUCTIONSServicing must be carried out by a competent person inaccordance with the law.WARNING: Turn off the gas supply to the applianceat the service cock and the electrical mains beforecommencing any servicing work.IMPORTANT: Test for gas leakage on completion ofany servicing work.The following instructions are intended to describethe operations necessary to convert equipment fromoperation on one gas to another.1. Ensure that all of the parts necessary to make theconversion have been supplied as follows:a. Injector fittings ( One required for each mainburner & one required for each pilot)b. Regulator, (one per unit )If any of the required parts are missing, contactyour Garland dealer before attempting to carry outthe conversion.2. Remove the burners following the instructionsgiven in this manual.3. Replace each injector fitting with the new fittingthat is supplied.NOTE: Before doing so, refer to Table C in thismanual to ensure that the correct injector has beensupplied for the gas supply being converted to.4. Replace the spring in the governor with the newspring supplied.Upon completion of all the above operations, follow thesection in the manual on “Commissioning” and ensurethat the setting pressure and all burner flame settingsare adjusted accordingly.Miscellaneous1. Grease the door hinges and check for loose fasteners.Tighten as necessary.2. Wire brush the surface of the griddle to removebaked on material, wash with hot water, drythoroughly. Lightly coat the surface with vegetableoil to prevent rusting.3. Wipe exposed cleanable surfaces with a milddetergent and hot water. Stubborn residue may beremoved with a lightweight non-metallic scouringpad. Stainless steel areas should be washed witha mild detergent, hot water and a soft cloth. Ifnecessary to use a non-metallic scouring pad alwaysrub in the direction of the grain in the metal toprevent scratching. NEVER USE STEEL WOOL.4. Check the operation of the flame safety device byclosing the gas supply during burner operation.Listen for the flame failure valve on the combinationgas control “clicking” closed. This action mustoccur within 1 second of extinguishing the mainburner flame.5. Clean the oven racks, shelves and guides with hotsoapy water and dry thoroughly. Clean the oveninterior with a propriety oven cleaner following themanufacturers instructions.MAINTENANCE & CLEANING continued
