If upgrading from a GDU 37X to a GDU 46X display, refer toupgrade instructions in Section 32 for information pertaining to preserving/transferring stored systemcalibration information.Figure 8-1 GDU 46X Unit View8.1 Equipment DescriptionNOTEThere is no TSO/ETSO applicable to the GDU 46X.NOTEUnless a GPS 20A is used for GPS position, a minimum of one GPS antenna is requiredfor installations using more than one GDU 46X unit, as the GDU 46X will “share” theGPS information with all GDU 46X units. Additional GPS antennas may be used forredundancy, but are not required.NOTEMake sure that no dust or grit accumulates at the bottom of the display glass. The GDU46X display uses invisible infrared beams for touch detection, this makes it very importantto keep the screen clean, especially along the edges.NOTESee 34.2.1.5 for information on replacing a GDU 37X display with a GDU 4XX display.The GDU 46X is not suitable for installation in a type-certificated aircraft.The GDU 46X is mounted flush to the aircraft instrument panel using four #6 screws. The GDU 46X isavailable in two models, GDU 460 and GDU 465. The GDU 460 is a Garmin Display Unit with a GPSreceiver and video input. The GDU 465 provides these same features plus a SiriusXM ® receiver.
