H 9-9SECTION 9TERRAIN9.4 DATABASE INFORMATION FORTERRAINGeneral Database InformationGarmin TERRAIN uses terrain and obstacleinformation supplied by government sources. The dataundergoes verification by Garmin to confirm accuracy ofthe content, per TSO-C151b. However, the displayedinformation should never be understood as being all-inclusive. Pilots must familiarize themselves withthe appropriate sectional charts for safe flight.NOTe: The data contained in the terrain andobstacle databases comes from governmentagencies. Garmin accurately processes andcross-validates the data, but cannot guaranteethe accuracy and completeness of the data.The terrain/obstacle databases are contained on adatacard which is inserted in the right-most slot of theGPS 400 units (Appendix A).NOTe: Obstacles 200’ and higher are includedin the Obstacle Database. it is very importantto note that not all obstacles are necessarilycharted and therefore may not be contained inthe Obstacle Database.Database VersionsThe version and area of coverage of each terrain/obstacle database is shown on the Terrain DatabaseVersions Page, located in the AUX Page Group (Figures9-10 and 9-11, also Section 8.3). Databases are checkedfor integrity at power-up.
