The ENTER/MARK key allowsyou to mark your current posi-tion as a user waypoint. Youcan give this waypoint anyname you choose. You can also choose from alist of symbols used to identifythe user waypoint on the mapdisplay.55REFERENCEIn addition to the built-in database, the GPS III Pilot also stores up to 500 user-defined waypoints, with a selectable symbol and comment available for each waypoint.User-defined waypoints can be created using four methods:Mark Present Position— your present position can be captured and saved as auser waypoint using the ENTER/MARK key (press & hold). On Map— a new user waypoint position can be created directly on the mapdisplay using the panning pointer and ENTER/MARK key (press momentarily).Text Entry— user waypoints can be created by entering position coordinatesmanually (from a chart, etc.) or by referencing bearing and distance from apreviously stored waypoint (or present position).Average Position— position samples can be averaged over time and the resultsaved as a user waypoint. Averaging reduces the effects of selective availability andimproves the accuracy of the position reading. (See page 33 for more info.)Marking Present PositionThe GPS III Pilot’s “mark” feature lets you quickly capture your present position inorder to create a new user waypoint.
