Turning On the GPSMAP 276CThe first time you turn on your new GPSMAP 276C, the GPSreceiver must collect satellite data and establish its current location.To ensure proper initialization, the GPSMAP 276C is shipped fromthe factory in AutoLocate mode, which allows the receiver to “finditself” anywhere in the world. Before you turn on the unit to startinitialization, be sure that the antenna is rotated up as shown onpage 1, and it has a clear and unobstructed view of the sky to receivesatellite signals.To turn the GPSMAP 276C on and off:1. Press and hold the POWER key. When the unit turns on, atone sounds and the Warning Page appears.Warning Page2. Read the warning, and then press ENTER to continue.3. To turn off the GPSMAP 276C, press and hold the POWERkey again.Adjusting the Backlight and VolumeYou can adjust the backlight to see the display better. If you areusing the optional External Speaker with 12/24-Volt Adapter Cablewith the GPSMAP 276C, you can adjust the volume level of theaudio output.To adjust the backlight level or volume:1. Press and quickly release the POWER key.2. Press up on the ROCKER to increase the brightness orpress down to decrease. Press right to raise the volume orleft to lower.3. Press ENTER or QUIT to close the Backlight/Volumeadjustment window.4.
