Two basic map operating modes, Position modeand Pointer mode, determine what cartography (map data) is shown on the MapPage. Position mode pans the cartography to keep the current position markerwithin the display area, whereas Pointer mode pans the cartography to keep themap pointer within the display area.The GPSMAP 3005C starts in Position mode, with your location centered on themap.Press up, down, left, or right on the ROCKER to enter Pointer mode. In Pointermode:• You can move the map pointer over the map display using the ROCKER.• When the map pointer reaches the edge of the display, the map scrollsforward under the pointer. Keep in mind that the boat icon moves with themap scrolling and may go off the screen (you might not be able to see yourcurrent location).• When the map pointer is stationary, a fixed coordinate location appears inthe position field.
