SafeTaxi is always available for useafter the expiration date. When turning on the GPSMAP 695/696, the Power-upPage indicates whether the databases are current, out of date, or not available. ThePower-up Page shows the SafeTaxi database is current when the SafeTaxi Expires dateis shown in white. When the SafeTaxi cycle has expired, the SafeTaxi Expires dateappears in yellow.The SafeTaxi Region, Version, Cycle, Effective date, and Expiration date of thedatabase cycle can also be found in the Main Menu, under ‘Database Information’.The SafeTaxi database is provided by Garmin. Refer to Appendix C for instructionson updating the SafeTaxi database.5.2 CHARTVIEW (OPTIONAL)WARNING: Do not use the approach information provided by the VFRnavigation database residing within the GPSMAP 695/696 as a means ofnavigating any instrument approach. The GPSMAP 695/696 VFR navigationdatabase is limited to present only the waypoints for the final approach leg ofa published procedure. These waypoints and associated course line are madeavailable for monitoring purposes only.ChartView resembles the paper version of Jeppesen terminal procedure charts. TheMFD depiction displays the aircraft position on the moving map in the plan view of theapproach charts and on airport diagrams.ChartView database is revised every 14 days. Charts are still viewable during aperiod that extends from the cycle expiration date to the disable date. ChartView isdisabled 70 days after the expiration date and is no longer available for viewing. Whenturning on the system, the Power-up Page displays the current status of the ChartViewdatabase.
