Quest® 2 Owner’s Manual appendIx > carInG for the Quest 2 and safe modeCaring for the Quest 2The Quest 2 is constructed of high quality materials and does notrequire user maintenance other than cleaning.Cleaning the CaseClean the unit’s outer casing (except for the screen) using a clothdampened with a mild detergent solution and then wipe dry.Avoid chemical cleaners and solvents that may damage plasticcomponents.Cleaning the ScreenClean the screen using a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. You may usewater, isopropyl alcohol, or eyeglass cleaner if needed. To use thesecleaners, apply the liquid to the cloth and wipe the screen.Storing the Quest 2Do not store the Quest 2 where prolonged exposure to temperatureextremes may occur (such as in the trunk of a car), as permanentdamage may result.Avoiding TheftTo avoid theft, take your Quest 2 with you or remove it from viewwhen you leave your vehicle.Safe ModeSafe Mode disables functions that require significant operatorattention and could distract the driver except for emergencyrouting. Safe Mode turns on automatically when your vehiclebegins moving. While driving, if you press FInD, only theEmergency & Government Services category is available. Whenyou come to a complete stop, all features are automaticallyenabled. You cannot disable Safe Mode.Read the safety information on pages iii–iv to learn how to useyour Quest 2 safely and responsibly.Battery Temperature WarningYour Quest 2 contains an internal lithium-ion battery, which canstore more energy than standard batteries. All batteries slowly losethe amount of energy they can hold over time. To maximize batterylife, limit the unit’s prolonged exposure to excessive heat and directsunlight.If Your Quest 2 Locks Up…On rare occasions, your Quest 2 may freeze or lock up. In this case,reset it by pressing the Power key and the In key at the same time.The unit turns off. The unit will operate normally when you turn iton again.
