Removing the entire primaryboom cable track is only necessary whenperforming major repairs that involve removing theprimary boom.How to R epair the Primary Boom C abl e Tr ackHow to Repair the Primary BoomCable TrackComponent damage hazard.The boom cable track can bedamaged if it is twisted.Note: A 7 link repair section of cable track isavailable through the Genie Service PartsDepartment.1 link separation point2 lower clip1 Use a slotted screwdriver to pry down on thelower clip.2 To remove a single link, open the lower clipand then use a screw driver to pry the link tothe side.3 Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each link.4-2 Primary Boom4-2Primary BoomHow to Shim the Primary BoomHow to Shim the Primary Boom1 Extend the boom until the wear pads areaccessible.2 Loosen the wear pad mounting fasteners.3 Install the new shims under the wear pad toobtain zero clearance and zero drag.4 Tighten the mounting fasteners.5 Extend and retract the boom through an entirecycle. Check for tight spots that could causescraping or binding.Note: Always maintain squareness between theouter and inner boom tubes.How to R emove the Primary BoomHow to Remove the PrimaryBoomBodily injury hazard. Thisprocedure requires specific repairskills, lifting equipment and asuitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without theseskills and tools could result indeath or serious injury andsignificant component damage.Dealer service is stronglyrecommended.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hoseend must be replaced. All connections must betorqued to specification during installation. Refer toSpecifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting TorqueSpecifications.Note: Perform this procedure with the boom in thestowed position.1 Remove the platform.
