The extensioncylinder could fall when removedfrom the extension boom if notproperly supported.Component damage hazard. Becareful not to damage thecounterbalance valves on theprimary boom extension cylinderwhen removing the cylinder fromthe primary boom.Component damage hazard.Hoses and cables can bedamaged if the primary boomextension cylinder is draggedacross them.Note: During removal, the overhead crane strapwill need to be carefully adjusted for properbalancing.Note: Note the length of the cylinder after removal.The cylinder must be at the same length forinstallation.4-5 Platform Lev eling M aster Cylinder4-5Platform Leveling MasterCylinderThe platform leveling master cylinder acts as apump for the slave cylinder. It is part of theclosed-loop hydraulic circuit that keeps theplatform level through the entire range of primaryboom motion. The platform leveling mastercylinder is located inside the upper mid-pivot at thepivot end of the primary boom.How to R emove the Pl atform Lev eling M aster CylinderHow to Remove the PlatformLeveling Master CylinderBodily injury hazard. Thisprocedure requires specific repairskills, lifting equipment and asuitable workshop. Attemptingthis procedure without theseskills and tools could result indeath or serious injury andsignificant component damage.Dealer service is stronglyrecommended.Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hoseend must be replaced. All connections must betorqued to specification during installation. Refer toSpecifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting TorqueSpecifications.Note: Before cylinder removal is considered, bleedthe cylinder to be sure that there is no air in theclosed loop. Refer to Repair Procedure, How toBleed the Slave Cylinder.
