50Replacement proceduresCAUTION:When replacing FRUs while the switch is running, be aware of electrical safety hazards.The switch uses a modular, hot-swappable architecture, and supports field replaceable units (FRUs). Youcan replace any of FRUs when the switch is running.Replacing a power moduleWARNING!• Strictly follow the procedures shown in Figure 38 and Figure 39 to replace a power module to avoiddevice or bodily injury.• Power modules on a 10500 switch must be the same model. When the replacement power modules andthe power modules that are operating correctly are not the same model, power off the switch andremove all power modules before replacement.• Add a circuit breaker to the power line for each power module. Before replacing a power module, turnoff its circuit breaker.• The power module might be of high temperature. Remove it with caution.• To install the removed power module to the chassis again, install it after the status LED on it is off.• After removing the power module, if you do not install a new power module, install a blank filler panel.Figure 38 Power module removal flowFigure 39 Power module installation flowTo replace a power module:1. Prepare an antistatic mat to place the removed power module.2. Turn off the circuit breaker.3. Wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is well grounded. Formore information, see "Installing modules."4. Remove the power cable plug from the power module.{ AC power cable: Remove the cable ties from the power cable, and remove the power cableplug from the power module.{ Remove the cable ties from the power cable, loosen the fastening screw on the power cable,and remove the power cable plug from the power module.
