Onceentered, the preset number will appear in thePreset Number/Sleep Time Display Q.3. Repeat the process after tuning anyadditional stations to be preset.Recalling Preset Stations• To manually select a station previouslyentered in the preset memory, press theNumeric Keys r that correspond to thedesired station’s memory location.• To manually tune through the list of storedpreset stations one by one, press the PresetStations Selector buttons )` on thefront panel or remote.Tape RecordingIn normal operation, the audio or video sourceselected for listening through the AVR 210 issent to the record outputs. This means that anyprogram you are watching or listening to maybe recorded simply by placing machines con-nected to the outputs for Tape Outputs ™ orVideo 1 or 2 Outputs ∞cf in the recordmode.When a digital audio recorder is connected tothe Digital Audio Outputs ‚, you are ableto record the digital signal using a CD-R,MiniDisc or other digital recording system.NOTES:• The digital outputs are active only when adigital signal is present, and they do notconvert an analog input to a digital signal,or change the format of the digital signal.In addition, the digital recorder must becompatible with the output signal. Forexample, the PCM digital input from a CDplayer may be recorded on a CD-R orMiniDisc, but Dolby Digital or DTS signalsmay not.• Please make certain that you are aware ofany copyright restrictions on any material youcopy. Unauthorized duplication of copyrightedmaterials is prohibited by federal law.Output Level Trim AdjustmentNormal output level adjustment for theAVR 210 is established using the test tone, asoutlined on pages 22 and 23. In some cases,however, it may be desirable to adjust the out-put levels using program material such as a testdisc, or a selection you are familiar with.Additionally, the output level for the subwoofercan only be adjusted using this procedure.To adjust the output levels using programmaterial, first set the reference volume for thefront-left and front-right channels using theVolume Control Ó .If you are using a disc with test signals or anexternal signal generator as the source fromwhich to trim the output levels, you may usethe EzSet feature of the remote to guide you tothe correct SPL level. To use the remote for thispurpose, press and quickly release the SPLIndicator Select to activate the sensor.While the test tone is circulating, the Program/SPL Indicator c will change color to indi-cate the level. Adjust the level as shown aboveuntil the LED lights green for all channels.When it is red the level is too high; when itis amber the level is too low. Press the SPLIndicator Select to turn the sensor andindicator off.Once the reference level has been set, pressthe Channel Select button lÙ and notethat FRONT L LEV will appear in theMain Information Display X. To changethe level, first press the Set button oÔ ,and then use the Selector buttons 5 or the⁄ / ¤ buttons mq to raise or lower thelevel. DO NOT use the volume control, as thiswill alter the reference setting.Once the change has been made, press the Setbutton oÔ and then press the Selectorbuttons 5 or the ⁄/¤ buttons mq toselect the next output channel location that youwish to adjust. To adjust the subwoofer level,press the Selector buttons 5 or the ⁄/¤buttons mq until WOOFER LEVappears in the Main Information Display Xor on-screen display.Press the Set button oÔ when the name ofthe desired channel appears in the MainInformation Display X and on-screen dis-play, and follow the instructions shown earlierto adjust the level.Repeat the procedure as needed until all chan-nels requiring adjustment have been set. Whenall adjustments have been made and no furtheradjustments are made for five seconds, theAVR 210 will return to normal operation.The channel output for any input may also beadjusted using the full-OSD on-screen menusystem. First, set the volume to a comfortablelistening level using the Volume ControlÓ . Then, press the OSD button v tobring up the MASTER MENU (Figure 1).Press the ¤ button q four times until the on-screen › cursor is next to the CHANNELADJUST line. Press the Set button o toactivate the CHANNEL ADJUST menu(Figure 8).Figure 8Once the menu appears on your video screen,use the ⁄/¤ buttons mq to move the on-screen › cursor so that it is next to the channelthat you wish to adjust. Then, use the ‹/› but-tons n to raise or lower the output level.Remember, the goal is to have the output levelat each channel be equal when heard at thelistening position.When all adjustments are done, press the ⁄/¤mq buttons to move the on-screen › cur-sor so that it is next to RETURN TOMENU and then press the Set button o ifyou wish to go back to the main menu to makeother adjustments. If you have no other adjust-ments to make, press the OSD button v toexit the menu system.NOTE: The output levels may be separatelytrimmed for each digital and analog surroundmode.
