Programming the RemoteTo find out what function a particularbutton has for a specific device, find thebutton on the diagram on this page, andthen look at the Function List (pages 32and 33) in the column for the device youare controlling. For example, buttonnumber 29 is the Tuning Down button forthe AVR35, but it is the “Rewind” buttonfor many VCRs. Button number 33 is thePreset Tune Down button for the AVR35,the “Reverse Skip” button for CD playersand the “Page Down” button for somecable boxes.IMPORTANT NOTE: The numbers usedon these pages to determine the function-ality of a remote button are used for thispurpose only. DO NOT confuse them withthe numbering used in the rest of thismanual to identify the button functionsfor controlling the AVR35.Notes on Using the AVR35 Remote WithOther Devices.• Manufacturers may use different codesets for the same product category. Forthat reason, it is important that youcheck to see if the code set you haveentered operates as many controls aspossible. If it appears that only a fewfunctions operate, check to see ifanother code set will work with morebuttons.• When a button is pressed on the AVR35remote, the red light under theDevice Control Selector c forthe product being operated shouldflash briefly. If the Device ControlSelector flashes for some, but not allbuttons for a particular product, itdoes NOT indicate a problem with theremote, but rather that no function isprogrammed for the button beingpushed.Macro ProgrammingThe Power button may be programmed tosend out a sequence of up to eight com-mands when it is pushed. This enablesyou to turn on a number of products,and to have a program source turn to afavorite channel or any other command.To program a macro into the Powerbutton, follow these steps:1. Press either the AVR button b orthe SAT/CBL Device Selectorbutton c and the Mute button` at the same time until the redlight under the Device ControlSelector turns on.2. Press the Power button d andnote that the Device Control Selectorwill blink once.3. Enter up to eight macro steps, bypressing the Device Control buttonand then the function button for eachstep you wish to enter. To enter the“Power On/Off” command duringmacro programming, press the Mutebutton `. DO NOT press the actualPower Button.4.
